Division of Vehicles encourages visitors to begin using scheduling service where available

12/18/2019

TOPEKA - This fall the Kansas Department of Revenue’s Division of Vehicles piloted a scheduling platform so visitors can create an appointment and know exactly when they will be able to be helped in a driver’s license office. Now the ability to schedule an appointment has expanded to other offices across the state.

In addition to Topeka, where the platform was piloted in August, the Andover, Derby, Kansas City (Kan.), Lawrence, Manhattan, Mission, Olathe, Overland Park, and Wichita offices now offer this service. To date, 95% of the visitors who scheduled an appointment, the wait time is less than 15 minutes.

"The holiday season and anytime schools are out of session, we see an increase of visitors to our offices," Director of Vehicles David Harper said. "We hope by having the ability to schedule your visit will alleviate some of the lines and frustrations experienced in the past at our larger offices."

Over the next few weeks of the holiday season, all Kansas Driver’s License Offices will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Walk-in visitors will still be allowed on a first-come-first-served basis. This service is part of the agency's current line-queuing service through Q-Flow and appointments can be made 30 days in advance of a visit.

“Providing the scheduling service has proven highly successful and we are looking at options to add this service in other DMV offices across the state,” Harper said.

To schedule an appointment in one of the previously mentioned offices, go to http://getinline.kdor.ks.gov/webappt and click “Schedule an Appointment” or go to the Kansas Department of Revenue website at ksrevenue.org and click the DMV Scheduler & Line System button.
