Armed Services Occupational Medal Plate

An Armed Services Occupation Medal license plate may be issued for a passenger vehicle, motorcycle, or truck registered for 20,000 lbs. or less that is titled or leased in the name of a recipient of an Army of Occupation medal or a Navy Occupation Service medal.

To qualify for this plate, you must:

  • Be a Kansas resident.
  • Have a qualifying vehicle titled in Kansas in the medal recipients name, or have a vehicle titled in your leasing company’s name with the medal recipient listed as the lessee.
  • Have proof that the medal was awarded in your name by presenting either a DD214 with the award notation or a government award certificate for the medal.
  • Complete and submit an Armed Service Occupation Medal License Plate Affidavit and Application TR-21 form.

Steps to obtain the plate:

  • Make an application for the Armed Services Occupation Medal plate at your local county treasurer’s motor vehicle office.
  • Proof of valid insurance must be presented at the time of application, along with a current registration or proof of ownership if a newly purchased vehicle, and the completed Armed Service Occupation Medal License Plate Affidavit and Application TR-21 form with the supporting DD214 or certificate of award.
  • If this plate is replacing another currently issued license plate for your vehicle, the old plate must be surrendered with the application for this plate.
  • Pay applicable fees for plate issuance.

Fee for Armed Services Occupation Medal plate:

  • There is no extra fee for the plate itself but standard registration fees, property taxes, and service fees do apply for the vehicles to which the Armed Services Occupation Medal plates are issued.
