1st Infantry Division Plate

An 1st Infantry Division license plate may be issued for a passenger vehicle, motorcycle, or truck, registered for 20,000 lbs. or less, that is titled or leased in the name of a person who is:

  • Currently serving in any unit of the 1st Infantry Division, the Fort Riley garrison,
  • Currently serving in any unit assigned to the Fort Riley garrison, or
  • To a person who has separated from the United State Military, who was discharged under honorable conditions but served at least 9 months in any unit of the 1st infantry division, the Fort Riley garrison or any unit assigned to the Fort Riley garrison.

To qualify for this plate, you must:

  • Be a Kansas resident.
  • Have a qualifying vehicle titled in Kansas in your name, or have a vehicle titled in your leasing company’s name with your name listed as the lessee.
  • Have proof that you are currently serving in any unit of the 1st infantry division, or the Fort Riley garrison, or a unit assigned to the Fort Riley garrison or you have separated from the United States military, and were honorably discharged or discharged under honorable conditions and served an assignment of at least nine months in any unit of the 1st infantry division, the Fort Riley garrison or any unit assigned to the Fort Riley garrison.
    • Proof would be:
      • DD214 showing Fort Riley as the Last Duty Assignment in section 8a and 8b, or
      • Past Military Orders showing an assignment meeting the requirement, or
      • A Soldier Talen Profile that shows an eligible assignment
  • Complete and submit a 1st Infantry Division License Plate Affidavit and Application TR-21 form

Steps to obtain the plate:

  • Make an application for the 1st Infantry Division Medal plate at your local county treasurer’s motor vehicle office and present the completed TR-21 and proof of eligiblity documentation.
  • Proof of valid insurance must be presented at the time of application, along with a current registration or proof of ownership if a newly purchased vehicle, and the completed 1st Infantry Division License Plate Affidavit and Application TR-21 form with the supporting DD214 or certificate of award.
  • If this plate is replacing another currently issued license plate for your vehicle, the old plate must be surrendered with the application for this plate.
  • Pay applicable fees for plate issuance.

Fee for 1st Infantry Division Medal plate:

  • There is no extra fee for the plate itself but standard registration fees, property taxes, and service fees do apply for the vehicles to which the 1st Infantry Division Medal plates are issued.
